Thought leadership strategy gets treated as a marketing buzzword, but at its core it's simple: consistently articulating a clear point of view on the problems your industry actually faces, before most others do.
Pick a specific hill, not the whole mountain
No one becomes a thought leader on "business" broadly. They become known for a specific angle within it — a method, a contrarian view, a niche most others ignore. Specificity is what makes a point of view memorable.
Publish the reasoning, not just the conclusion
Sharing a conclusion ("do X") is forgettable. Sharing the reasoning behind it — why most people get this wrong, what the data actually shows — is what makes people quote and remember you.
Show up in the same few places, repeatedly
Thought leadership compounds through repeated exposure in a handful of channels — a newsletter, LinkedIn, a podcast — rather than being spread thin across every platform at once.
Let other people's disagreement work for you
A clear point of view will occasionally attract pushback. That's a sign it's specific enough to matter — vague opinions rarely generate any disagreement at all.
